Some people may enjoy a movie about a day in the life of a down-on-her-luck actor. For those few, this is your movie. For the rest of us, the only reason to see the indulgent, intentionally homemade movie by writer-director Scott Coffey is to be reminded why we
aren't actors. The whole movie occurs in the space of a few days. In it, the perpetually auditioning
Naomi Watts (as the titular Ellie Parker) learns that her musician boyfriend (Mark Pellegrino) is sleeping with a casting agent.
She gets into a car accident, and she decides to leave the Biz all together. There are some funny moments--Pellegrino is especially ripe. But too much time is spent watching Ellie apply makeup in the car and complaining in general. And with so much HBO programming devoted to similar topics (
The Comeback,
Extras), do we really need to see all of this again?
