Dirty

C-
Here's a movie that tries so hard to be gritty, disturbing and "real" it nearly gives itself a hernia. Dirty spends a day following two corrupt Los Angeles policemen. Guilt-ridden Clifton Collins Jr. is about to blow the whistle at an Internal Affairs meeting that evening, but first, he and partner Cuba Gooding Jr. have one last sleazy deal to do. Naturally, their plans go awry, and the nightmare that follows pounds home the moral of the story. Unfortunately, this moral is clearly conveyed during the voice-over at the top of the movie, de-fanging the incessant, tedious violence and gimmicky, "raw" camera work that follows. The acting is great (Gooding Jr.'s foul-mouthed cop erases all memories of Snow Dogs) and the intentions are sincere, but you'll want to take a good shower after sitting through this mess.
