Adam Sandler is the ultimate control freak as a hardworking Joe Schmoe who comes across a universal remote that runs everything...literally. He can fast forward, rewind and pause real life, but these tricks come with a price.
Click is typical of Sandler's oeuvre: raunchy, infantile humor with a sweet streak, and that's when it works best. It's hard not to laugh at the gleeful dopiness--kids spouting swear words, the unbidden silliness of supporting stars like Jennifer Coolidge and
Christopher Walken--but an agonizing foray into sentimentality toward the end ruins the funny goodness.
Believe it or not, the gross out jokes won't leave a bad taste in the mouth; the gushy life lessons will.
