Hey, hippie, put down that issue of
High Times and get yourself to the theater, because someone's finally made a documentary for "open-minded" folks like you. Never mind that it's the cheesiest infomercial for psychedelics ever created, this is
spirituality, man. It's a talking-head-fueled snore about the life and mystique of the late Carlos Castaneda, the author of a series of books that helped inspire the new-age movement.
The alternating testimonials and critiques of Castaneda are delivered in front of ugly, psychedelic computer-screen-saver graphics and orchestrated to flatulent techno wheezes and airy pan flutes. True believers will be thrilled that someone even made a movie about their hero; everyone else will find better-produced material on cable access.
