Moss Ex's Drug Rewind
Just three days after pleading guilty to cocaine and heroin possession, Brit rocker Pete Doherty has been busted yet again.
The Babyshambles frontman, a coheadliner in ex-girlfriend Kate Moss' recent drug scandal, was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs Saturday while driving through an east London neighborhood, British police said.
Officers were attempting to flag down an erratic-driving car behind Doherty when the sobriety-challenged musician pulled over instead. According to police, the singer "behaved in a manner that caught officers' attention" and he was held on suspicion of both possessing illegal drugs and driving under the influence of drugs, though the latter charge was later dropped.
A rep for Scotland Yard said that police spoke to, but did not arrest, the driver of the car they initially intended to pull over.
Doherty, who was booted out of the Libertines for his drug abuse, was released on bail and is due back in court Feb. 2.
It will be the latest entry in the 26-year-old's burgeoning rap sheet.
Last Wednesday, Doherty pleaded guilty to heroin and cocaine possession stemming from a similar incident--he was pulled over Nov. 30 for driving in an "erratic manner" and arrested after British police found rock cocaine and a crack pipe in his vehicle. The singer's next court date for those charges is Feb. 8.
But wait, there's more.
During Doherty's appearance at the Ealing Magistrates' Court last week, it was revealed that Doherty was due to be questioned by police for allegedly possessing "small amounts" of drugs in yet another case. Further details have not been revealed.
Doherty became a whipping boy in the British tabloids last summer, bearing the brunt of the blame for Moss' cocaine-fueled fall from grace. The leaked footage of the supermodel allegedly snorting drugs was shot in his recording studio, most likely by a friend of his.
If convicted on the latest drug-possession charges, Doherty could spend up to seven years in prison and face a substantial fine.
