Now things are getting interesting.

The positively glowing cast of The Help won for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Motion Picture at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, an eleventh-hour shakeup as the Academy Awards grow ever nearer. Kids say the darndest things...and then the Parents Televsion Council gets involved.

Tonight's episode of Modern Family has drawn the attention of the PTC thanks to Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) shocking her parents when she starts dropping the F-bomb. While creator Steve Levitan told reporters at the Television Critics Association that he's "proud and excited" of the new storyline, the Parents Television Council is not happy (without having seen the episode).

So what does the PTC, and Lily's two on-screen dads, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, have to say about this whole fudge-ing mess?

More from The Awful Truth

Dear Ted:
The photo of George Clooney and Stacy Keibler in the white dress at the Critics' Choice Awards must have set off 1,000 wedding rumors! Intentional on her part? What say you oh wise one? And good god, Ted! Was it my imagination, or did Clooney actually make a reference to the size of Michael Fassbender's member at the Golden Globes?
Jessica and Como

Dear Wedding Gowns and Groin Grumbles:
Slow the marriage train, J&C, because while these two certainly seem to be having fun (and why wouldn't they be?), neither is ready to commit to a lifetime just yet. That's right, even Stacy isn't itching to tie the knot at the moment. As for Georgey name-checking Fassy's junk? Yep, that happened all right. Fabulous, no?

Dear Ted:
Two more post-Globes questions for you. Do Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara get along? How about Angelina Jolie and George Clooney? Neither pair looked too happy with each other. Thanks!

Happy New Year's Eve! Before you go off to your respective festivities to pop champagne and snog a stranger or just sit at home in your comfies and count down to the ball drop, let's take one last look at the highlights of 2011 while we're still, ya know, in 2011.

The big screen doesn't get all the glory at this time of year.

Modern Family, Boardwalk Empire and Breaking Bad garnered three nominations apiece heading into the first leg of the 2012 Writers Guild of America Awards—the one that honors achievements in TV, news, radio, promotional writing and graphic animation.

Except for The Good Wife, the Best Drama Series category is an all-cable affair, with the grittiness of Boardwalk and Breaking Bad also going up against Best New Series nominees Homeland and Game of Thrones.

The comedy categories, meanwhile, were a bit more broadcast-friendly...
