Mirren Gets Bubbly—and Scorsese Gets Jacked Up

Look for Helen Mirren to be drinking up a storm tonight at the Golden Globes.
After picking up her Critics' Choice Award on Friday night for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen, she hit the backstage one-on-one room. After two interviews, she asked her rep if she could ditch the rest so she could, um, relax. "She said she just wanted to go drink," an onlooker told me. "Her publicist said she just had to do one more."
After finishing up the interview, Mirren, I'm told, let out a big sigh and said, "Now, I can go drink."
She also hit On 3 Productions' Critics' Choice gift lounge and scooped up a pair of YSL sunglasses from Solstice.
Jennifer Hudson, one of the night's winners as well, picked up some shades, too—a one-of-a-kind pair from Boucheron featuring dangling jewels. Ms. Hudson also walked away with a chocolate brown bag from Kathy Van Zeeland.
Winner Forest Whitaker tried to snag a pink promise ring so he could help promote the Susan G. Komen breast cancer organization. It actually matched his pink shirt and tie. Unfortunately, the ring is made just for ladies, and no matter how hard he tried to stretch a ring past his knuckle, his fingers were way too big.
Cedric the Entertainer wasn't in Dreamgirls, but that doesn't mean he didn't want to be. He joked that he was up for a part. "Unfortunately," he quipped to the audience, "they went with Beyoncé."
Martin Scorsese described working with Jack Nicholson on The Departed as a wild ride. "I think I'm still reeling from it," the legendary director said with a laugh.
The ceremony will be televised Jan. 20 on E!. (E! Onlinre is a division of E! Networks.)
