Mira Gets Matrimonial

Mira Sorvino has a new little man in her life to go along with her Oscar.

The 36-year-old Academy Award-winning actress has swapped vows with her 22-year-old beau, her publicist announced Monday.

Sorvino married waiter/aspiring actor Christopher Backus in a private June 11 ceremony at the Santa Barbara Courthouse, publicist Mara Buxbaum said.

No further details were released, but Us Weekly reported last month that Sorvino was planning on wearing an Armani gown.

It's the first ring exchange for both.

Sorvino, daughter of Paul, has previously been linked to French hottie Olivier Martinez and Quentin Tarantino, whom she dated from 1996 to '98.

She and Backus reportedly met in spring 2003, when when Backus was waiting tables at Sur Restaurant & Grill in West Hollywood and took Sorvino's order. Apparently things clicked somewhere between appetizers and dessert and, voilą, a new Hollywood couple.

Us Weekly said the two became engaged last September, but had kept it a secret. There were also rumors--dutifully denied by Sorvino's rep--that the actress was pregnant.

Despite her Hollywood pedigree, the actress didn't enter show biz until she was in her twenties, with roles in soaps like Guiding Light and Swans Crossing. Her breakthrough role in the 1995 Woody Allen film Mighty Aphrodite earned her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Other credits include Beautiful Girls, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and The Replacement Killers, but none of the subsequent roles managed to replicate her Aphrodite success.

Up next for the actress is the sci-fi thriller The Final Cut opposite Robin Williams and the ensemble comedy Instant Karma, costarring Pierce Brosnan, Burt Reynolds, the Rock and Gene Wilder.

As for her new hubby, his lone non-restaurant credit, according to the Internet Movie Database, is a guest spot on an episode of Will & Grace last February.
