Mickey Wants to Be "Millionaire"?
Go to Disney World, of course.
Yes, ABC's cash cow Who Wants to Be a Millionaire may be headed for Walt Disney's MGM Studios in the company's Orlando complex next year, according to a newspaper report.
The Orlando Sentinel says Disney, which just happens to own the Alphabet Network, is planning to develop a theme park attraction based on the hit game show hosted by Regis Philbin.
However, there will reportedly be differences between the TV show and its Disney-fied counterpart. While the regular game show features 15 contestants squaring off for their shot at the million-dollar jackpot, Disney's MGM attraction will have 15 contestants most likely competing for prizes. (Despite the lack of big money, we're guessing Disney won't change the name to Who Wants to Win Some Mouse Ears.)
Of course, MGM players will still get their choice of three lifelines--the standard 50-50, phone-a-friend and poll the audience.
Disney officials have refused comment, calling the Sentinel's story "rumor and speculation."
But given the monster success of Millionaire and all its knockoffs (video games, board games, even a Regis-endorsed clothing line), we're betting a million that's not Mickey's final answer.
