Delle fonti hanno rivelato a E! News che Rourke è in trattative per interpretare uno dei cattivi nel prossimo Iron Man 2, le cui riprese dovrebbero cominciare questa primavera.
La nuova nemesi di Tony Stark sarà un altro trafficante di folli armi tecnologiche, questa volta un russo, impegnato a scontrarsi contro il nostro eroe dall’invincibile armatura. Stando alle voci sulla sceneggiatura di Justin Theroux, il temibile personaggio potrebbe essere Dinamo Cremisi, personalità dei fumetti della Marvel.
Nei panni di un altro nemico, secondo l’Hollywood Reporter, potrebbe esserci anche lo spietato Sam Rockwell di Charlie's Angels, che forse rivestirà i panni di Justin Hammer, un perfido industriale miliardario.
Il tanto atteso sequel dovrebbe uscire nel 2010, con Gwyneth Paltrow di nuovo nei panni di Pepper Potts e Don Cheadle che rimpiazzerà Terrence Howard nelle vesti di Jim "Rhodey" Rhodes. Il regista sarà sempre Jon Favreau.
