Morning Mail! Is Madonna Trying to Out-Cougar J.Lo?!

More from The Awful Truth

Dear Ted:
I just read that Madonna's new music video is premiering on American Idol. Did her team pull this move as a kind of warning to Jennifer Lopez, because J.Lo is also doing the younger BF thing (à la Madge)?

Dear The Claws Are Out:
What a bizarre—but hilarious—conspiracy theory, Moo-Moo. And while the Material Girl definitely wants us to think of her as young and hip (hence the collaboration with Nicki Minaj, me thinks), the A.I. preview has less to do with Jenny staying away from her crop of boy-toys and more to do with trying to generate buzz for her song.

Dear Ted:
I've been wondering: I have always heard how close Demi Moore and her girls remained to Bruce Willis (Bruce and Ashton Kutcher also seemed like besties) even after their respective re-marriages. But in light of Demi's very public past year and recent emergency, what kind of part has Bruce played?

Is Michelle Williams Taking a Break From Acting?

Michelle Williams has made it no secret where her priorities lie when it comes to acting vs. motherhood.

"I consider myself a mother first and an actress second, and so the person I most want to thank is my daughter, my little girl, whose bravery and exuberance is the example that I take with me in my work and in my life," the My Week With Marilyn star said in her Golden Globes acceptance speech.

But in spite of her success this awards season, the 31-year-old mom said she's ready to take a break from the acting world and focus on 6-year-old Matilda, her daughter with late actor Heath Ledger

More from Marc Malkin

We're off to see the wizard—and we hear it's going to be nothing like the trip Dorothy took down the yellow brick road.

James Franco stars in the upcoming Oz: The Great and Powerful, a prequel to the classic Judy Garland film told from the Wizard's point of view.

So will Franco be belting out a cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow?" Or "Defying Gravity" à la Idina Menzel in Broadway's Wicked?

Oscar Nominees Brad, Michelle, Meryl, Jonah (but Not George) Thank the Academy

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

Silence may indeed have proven to be golden for the awards magnet that is The Artist. But luckily, the ever grateful and humbled recipients of this morning's Oscar nominations didn't play it quite so retro when it came to expressing thanks for their nods.

Well, except for the no-commenting George Clooney, that is. He really is taking this Hollywood throwback thing to the limit. Unless maybe he's keeping quiet out of respect for all those unfathomable snubs?

In any case, while the gracious actors, actresses, directors, writers and producers honored by the 84th Annual Academy Awards weren't lacking in sound bites, our favorite reaction of the morning goes to someone who wasn't even a nominee…

Michelle Williams said in her Golden Globes acceptance speech that she was a mother first and actress second. We have one thing to say to that: Whoa, mama!

And if that list didn't have a third, well, it certainly does now: Thanks to the Oscar frontrunner's sultry new spread in GQ (who knew?), the My Week With Marilyn star should add international sex symbol to her ever-growing list of talents.

Marilyn Monroe would be proud.

For a silent film, The Artist sure is making a lot of noise this awards season.

Fresh off its domination of Sunday's Golden Globes, the film was the most-nominated flick today at the Orange British Academy Film Awards (aka the BAFTAs aka the British Oscars) with a whopping 12 nominations.

U.K.'s homegrown Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was next up with 11 BAFTA nominations, followed by Martin Scorsese's Hugo with nine, My Week With Marilyn with six, and The Help and War Horse, which earned five nominations apiece.

More from The Awful Truth

Happy New Year and welcome to 2012, you awful gals and guys! We hope you didn't celebrate too hard last night, but if you're feeling the sting of one champagne glass too many, hopefully another round of the 99 reasons we still love Hollywood will perk you up.

Because even though we're in the end of times (or so say the Mayans) there's still so many reasons to be thankful. Like the fact that we can still sing along with The Muppets or that bride-to-be Britney Spears is back and better than ever.

And as we near the end of the list, here are nine more reasons we especially adore Tinseltown:
