Michael Douglas isn't going to let a little lump in his throat get him down.

In his first interview since news of his cancer diagnosis broke, the Oscar winner tells People magazine: "I'll beat this."

Douglas, 65, also talks about how wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, and their two children, 10-year-old Dylan and 7-year-old Carys, are dealing with the news in the issue, which hits stands Friday.

He revealed his condition two weeks ago and is undergoing an eight-week course of radiation and chemotherapy. Doctors have given him an excellence prognosis and expect him to make a full recovery.

Douglas, however, will likely miss making the promotional rounds for his next big-screen foray, in which he reprises his role as disgraced financier Gordon Gekko in Oliver Stone's sequel, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, hitting theaters Sept. 24.
