Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones Engaged!
The aging actor and the 30-year-old Welsh beauty are engaged, Douglas announced today on his Website.
"I am very happy to announce that I am engaged to Catherine Zeta-Jones. I proposed to Catherine on New Year's Eve at my house in Aspen," a letter at www.michaeldouglas.com reads. "We plan to marry sometime this year, however, no date has been set. Check my Website in the future and you'll be among the first to know."
Zeta-Jones' publicist Todd Adair says the raven-haired star is sporting a "big 'ol diamond ring," and reports she is "ecstatic, thrilled and very, very happy."
The couple, who ushered in their exact 25-year age gap in 1999 at a joint birthday party September 25 in New York, met at the Deauville Film Festival in August 1998 in France. They have been dating since March 1999.
Douglas, a multiple Oscar-winner whose divorce to wife of 22 years Diandra Douglas has not yet been finalized, most recently played Gwyneth Paltrow's murderous husband in A Perfect Murder.
Zeta-Jones, one of People magazine's 10 best-dressed celebs, recently took a turn opposite Sean Connery in the 1999 theft drama Entrapment.
She also admits to having a "thing" for older men.
"I've never dated anybody the same age as me," she recently said. "I think it's because I love the knowledge older men have."
