Meg Files Her Own Divorce Papers
Just as tabloids spread word the estranged Hollywood couple had reunited--with Quaid reportedly planning to pull his divorce petition--Ryan has gone ahead and filed her own divorce papers. Go figure.
The 38-year-old actress filed the request August 14 in Los Angeles Superior Court, following a tabloid-documented, three-month photo-op fling with Proof of Life costar Russell Crowe.
The move adds yet another twist to Quaid and Ryan's tumultuous public split, coming just days after the seemingly reunited pair had been seen arm-in-arm together in Los Angeles.
Quaid initially filed for divorce from the Sleepless in Seattle star on July 11, citing irreconcilable differences, after nine years of marriage and a "mutual and amicable" split six weeks prior. The 46-year-old star of Innerspace and the upcoming Steven Soderbergh film Traffic tied the knot with Ryan on Valentine's Day, 1991.
As their relationship began unraveling, Ryan started appearing in public with Crowe at her side. Last week, Britain's Express claimed that Ryan begged Quaid to take her back, and that she moved back in with him and their 8-year-old son, Jack. The Express quoted unnamed friends, who chalked up her brief relationship with Crowe as "a crazy midlife crisis," which Ryan reportedly also called "a dreadful mistake."
Love, especially in Hollywood, is never simple.
