Married Before "Sopranos" Mob
Friday may have been a great day to hit up Tony Soprano. After all, no Sicilian can refuse a request on his little girl's wedding day.
TV mob princess Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who plays the Mafia don's daughter, Meadow, on the hit HBO drama The Sopranos, wed her manager, AJ Discala, in a ceremony last week, her publicist confirmed.
Sigler and Discala tied the knot at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, surrounded by bouquets of roses, candles and white balloons to distract the paparazzi.
According to eyewitness accounts, Sigler wore a strapless off-white Vera Wang gown bought off the rack, a six-foot long veil and short train. The bridesmaids were also clad in Vera Wang, and the groomsmen wore Hugo Boss.
Sigler covered the old and new with an antique diamond-encrusted pin given to her by her mother-in-law and a spanking-new pair of custom-designed earrings. Details of the blue and the borrowed were not released.
Family, friends and members of the Sopranos clan, reportedly including Edie Falco, Robert Iler, Aida Turturro, Dominic Chianese, Tony Sirico and John Ventimiglia, were in attendance at the twilight ceremony.
Iler, who plays Sigler's onscreen brother, was duly protective of his HBO costar. "I don't like anyone for Jamie," he told the Post. "But when I got to know him, I realized he was a good guy."
The 22-year-old starlet and her beau have been dating for at least two years and were engaged last September during a Labor Day-weekend cruise in Mexico. According to reports at the time, Discala popped the question and recited a poem after Sigler came out of the shower.
Showers appeared to be a running theme in the relationship Friday evening, when a thunderstorm moved the ceremony indoors around 7:30 p.m., followed by a reception party and six-tier wedding cake decorated with red roses.
The event's entertainment was worthy of a would-be Mafia princess, with guest Carly Simon getting up to belt out "Nobody Does It Better," "My Romance" and "Moon River."
No word if the newly minted couple are taking time out for a honeymoon. Sigler's currently shooting the long-awaited fifth season of the Sopranos, which kicks off early 2004.
Regardless of scheduling, the credits to the upcoming season will be a little different in honor of this weekend's nuptials. Meadow will now be played by Jamie-Lynn Discala instead of Jamie-Lynn Sigler. Sigler revealed to People magazine she's "traditional" and will assume her new hubby's name.
