Mariah Carried Back to No. 1

Now that she's been emancipated, there's no stopping Mimi.

Mariah Carey's The Emancipation of Mimi returned to the top of the Billboard 200 album chart, moving 172,000 copies last week, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures released Wednesday.

The album debuted at number one in April, becoming Carey's first chart-topping bow in eight years and ending the six-week run of 50 Cent's monster-selling The Massacre. For the six weeks since its release, Mimi has been no lower than number three. It's been a good run for the comeback-minded Carey, who last month notched her 16th chart-topping single on Billboard's Hot 100, "We Belong Together." Only the Beatles and Elvis have more number ones.

Carey also broke another streak. Since she relinquished the top spot to Rob Thomas' Something To Be on Apr. 26, six different rock artists held number one in as many weeks.

After so many weeks of number one bows, the Top 10 surprisingly featured no new entries. The week's highest charting debut belonged to Oasis, whose Don't Believe the Truth sold only 65,000 at number 12. A decade ago, the Manchester group launched its career as the fastest-selling group in U.K. pop history, and they've since sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

The Kottonmouth Kings' landed the next best bow as Kottonmouth Kings No. 7 sold more than 20,000 copies at number 50. The SoCal rap group, who scored a hit in the '90s with "Dog's Life," now releases albums on its own Suburban Noize Records. The only other album of note to break into the chart was Layzie Bone's It's Not a Game, which dropped at number 96.

Meanwhile, two soundtracks benefited from their films opening in theaters. The Nelly-led The Longest Yard disc climbed 11 spots to number 11, while The Lords of Dogtown disc jumped onto the charts at 156.

Over on the singles chart, R. Kelly is chasing tail once again. The Pussy Cat Dolls' "Don't Cha" (featuring Busta Rhymes) took over the number one spot, dropping R. Kelly's "In The Kitchen" down to number two. Only 13 copies separated the two releases.

Next week, look for new albums from Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas, the White Stripes and Shakira to battle it out in the Top 10.

Here's a recap of the best-selling albums for the week ended Sunday:

1. The Emancipation of Mimi, Mariah Carey
