Rob Lowe on Patrick Swayze: "He Loved Life"

If ya haven't heard, the flick St. Elmo's Fire is being developed into a television dramedy series.

Rob Lowe, who costarred in the movie alongside Demi Moore, Emilio Estevez, Andrew McCarthy and others, says he wasn't aware of the new project until we asked him about it yesterday at the Emmys.

But no biggie, because the Brat Pack flick actually isn't Lowe's top choice to be made for the small screen...

"Outsiders is the one they should be doing," Lowe said. "The Outsiders was always my favorite, particularly now with the passing of Patrick Swayze."

Director Francis Ford Coppola's 1983 movie adaptation of S.E. Hinton's coming-of-age novel of the same name starred Lowe and Swayze, along with Tom Cruise, C. Thomas Howell and Matt Dillon.

Looking down the red carpet, Lowe couldn't help but think of the late Dirty Dancing star.

"He would have loved this," Lowe said. "He loved life so much. He had a great life. He did love all this. He loved everything."
