Queen Latifah Never Met Michael Jackson
Given Queen Latifah's emotional eulogy at Tuesday's tribute to Michael Jackson, many of us, naturally, assumed she and the King of Pop had crossed royal paths at some point.
However, on the Late Show last night, Latifah revealed to host David Letterman that simply wasn't the case.
"I never actually got to meet him," she said. "My partner met him because we managed Naughty by Nature, and they did a remix with him. He thought I had beautiful cheekbones—I do know that much."
But in a way, her lack of contact with the late singer makes Latifah's memorial appearance all the more poignant—she, like most, only met the man through his music.
"It was just wonderful to see all the people who knew him, like Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder and his brothers and his daughter," she recalled. "Everyone really celebrating the great entertainer that he was and a great human being."
