Parton on Parade and the 9 to 5 Musical

Who needs the floats of New York's famed Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade when ya got Dolly Parton?
The divine Dolly is going be performing her new single “Better Get to Livin’” from the lead float this year. “I’ve always dreamed of doing the Macy’s parade,” Parton said. “I guess I don’t get to watch it this year though...I’ll have to tape it.”
The single is the first from Parton’s upcoming album, Backwoods Barbie, due out Feb. 5. The video for “Better” will premiere on CMT on Thanksgiving Day, too.
There's more good news in today's announcement about the long-awaited debut of the 9 to 5 stage musical. With new music by Parton, 9 to 5 is set to start previews Sept. 3, 2008 at L.A.’s Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theater. Opening night is Sept. 21.
Two-time Tony winner Joe Mantello is directing. Stars of the show include Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block, Megan Hilty and Marc Kudisch.
