Norman Lear's Poststrike Plans

Norman Lear is confident that his Declare Yourself campaign will help register millions of new voters this election season, but the writers' strike has caused a snag in at least one of his plans.
Lear & Co. have been working on getting references about voting dropped into some of your favorite television shows. “I don’t mean they’ll be making whole stories about voting,” the legendary television guru told me. “But when the writing starts again...they will be integrating voting into an episode or more of their shows.”
Is Lear worried at all that the upcoming election or his efforts to recruit more of Hollywood to help him out will take a backseat to Hollywood’s focus on the strike?
Nope.
“I think it’s going to give them more time to talk about it on the picket line,” he said with a laugh. “It’s a light answer, but I don’t think it’s going to take attention away at all.”
I'll have more from Mr. Lear and Declare Yourself executive director Marc Morgenstern later this week. Make sure to click back to find out about some of their new plans with superstars like Justin Timberlake.
