There's a new Jay Gatsby in Australia town.

That's right, filming has begun Down Under for director Baz Luhrman's 3-D adaptation of The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher and Joel Edgerton...

"It's a great cast," Edgerton told us earlier this week at the Hollywood premiere of his new flick Warrior. "I think Baz is great, I think the cast is great...The whole thing is going to be cool."

Preproduction on the 1920's period film, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, began last month. The project will reportedly cost $126 million and shoot in Australia for 17 weeks with an estimated cast and crew of 400, according to The Hollywood Reporter,

"It's been a while since I saw the [Robert] Redford version," said Edgerton, who's playing Tom Buchanan. "Obviously there'll be similarities because it's the same story, [but] it will be a different movie totally."

We cannot wait.
