Jay-Z and Beyoncé haven’t even officially confirmed they got hitched, but no matter. Assuming they are now mister and missus, I wanted to get some suggestions on what to buy the music power newlyweds.
Here’s what a few of my fave tastemakers had to say:
First up, they may be household names, but monogrammed initials go a long way. “It’s for people who are so famous that their last names are dangerously close to becoming obsolete,” says Tom Delavan, an editor at large at home design magazine Domino. “No matter who you are or what your situation is, people always love seeing their names personalized on something. It’s classic and nostalgic.”
Not so classic, some big-money ideas that are out of this world—literally. “Send them over the moon with two round-trip tickets for Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic spaceship,” says InStyle magazine’s Katrina Szish.
At $200,00 a ticket for Branson’s space travel, we’ll probably go for something, well, a bit more down-to-earth. “Get them a blender!” declares Simon Doonan, creative guru at Barneys New York and author of Eccentric Glamour. “Everyone is going to be giving them mink-lined yachts and Apache helicopters. Nobody is going to remember that they need a nice sturdy blender for the kitchen.”
