Exclusive! Jessica Simpson Is Workin' 9 to 5!

Talk about blondes having more fun. As I exclusively reported last week, Reese Witherspoon is set to make her first public red carpet appearance since splitting from Ryan Phillippe on Dec. 3 in Washington, D.C., where she is slated to present to Dolly Parton at the Kennedy Center Honors gala.
And things just keep getting better for the iconic Ms. Parton. I've just learned that another of Hollywood's single blond bombshells, Jessica Simpson, has been added to the evening's lineup. Simpson's rep, Cindi Berger, confirms she plans to perform Parton's classic hit "9 to 5."
I'm told Simpson is so nervous about singing for Parton—who could blame her?—she has asked for a teleprompter during the performance, just in case she forgets any of the words.
My gut says Jess will hit solid gold with her rendition. "All they see is this great-looking blond girl, but she's got the great voice and the heartache and pain to throw into songs," Parton has said of Simpson.
Like Witherspoon (and me, for that matter), Simpson worships Ms. Parton. "She is my mentor, my idol," the Dukes of Hazzard starlet has said. "To be a singer, a songwriter and amazing businesswoman—a blonde who has the best one-liners of all time and a phenomenal actress. If I could have a career like Dolly Parton's and end up having my own theme park one day, that's success."
Better yet, what about Parton helping Simpson make her way to Broadway? For years, Parton has been working on a musical adaptation of the movie 9 to 5. I think Simpson just may be the perfect gal to re-create Parton's role as Doralee Rhodes, one of the three secretaries who wreaks havoc on a chauvinistic boss from hell.
