Emmy Scoop! The Governor's Ball Gives Back

Emmy statuette ATAS/NATAS

Win or lose, Emmy nominees like America Ferrera, Tina Fey, Mary-Louise Parker, James Gandolfini, Sally Field and Felicity Huffman will have a big night of partying ahead of them after the awards.

First up will be the Governor’s Ball. I got a sneak peek at what the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has in store. And I’m happy to report, it’s going to be an evening of healthy eating and giving back.

A media presentation early this morning about the upcoming shindig included the menu from Patina chef Joachim Splichal. Not only is he going primarily organic, but any unused portions will be delivered to meal-providing charities. Dishes will include a tower of mango and Dungeness crab, beef filet mignon and milk chocolate mousse and berries in a Dove dark chocolate cup. Yum!

The elaborate floral arrangements from celebrity florist Mark’s Garden will be donated to UCLA’s Mattel Children’s Hospital. That’s about 10,000 blooms, including calla lilies and roses imported from as far away as Ecuador.

“They’re going to hold up beautifully through the event, and then they won’t go to waste,” Mark’s Garden co-owner Mark Held told me.

Even Grey Goose vodka is getting in on the right side of partying. They’ve pledged to recycle 100 percent of the empty bottles after everyone goes home.

Considering how much Hollywood enjoys a good drink, that will no doubt result in a lot of repurposed glass.
