Conan's Westward Expansion
Has NBC ordered Conan O'Brien to head west? Ever since Jay Leno announced two years ago that he'd be stepping down from The Tonight Show to make room for O'Brien, the Peacock network has never actually said if the legendary late-night talk show would remain in Burbank. O'Brien reportedly prefers NYC.
"I'm open to going to L.A.," O'Brien told New York magazine last year. "Mostly because it won't be my choice." The Tonight Show in NYC isn't all that unbelievable. With Steve Allen as host, the show premiered from the Big Apple in 1954.
Still, it appears NBC has told O'Brien to slather on some sunscreen to protect that fair-skinned, freckled face of his. A source tells me he's recently been house hunting in the L.A. area. Reps for O'Brien and The Tonight Show did not return calls or email.
Can't wait to see O'Brien tooling around L.A. in a convertible. One can only imagine the havoc that will wreak on his famously poofy pompadour.
