Bam! Emeril Going Green?
Anders Krusberg/The Martha Stewart Show
Emeril Lagasse was on Martha Stewart’s talk show today to celebrate their newly announced business partnership, but there’s one thing they didn’t mention while sipping champagne.
I’m hearing Lagasse has been in talks—and may have actually already signed a deal—to host a cooking show for the Discovery Channel's new Planet Green network.
Lagasse, I’m told, will be cooking things up in an eco-friendly kitchen with health-conscious ingredients from supermarkets like Whole Foods.
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia announced yesterday it was acquiring the rights to the Lagasse franchise, except for his restaurant business and foundation-related projects.
A rep for Planet Green, which launches June 4, declined to confirm a Lagasse project. “We’re talking to a lot of people about a lot of projects,” the rep said, “but I can’t confirm anybody.”
Lagasse currently hosts Essence of Emeril for the Food Network and is a food correspondent for Good Morning America. His other show, Emeril Live, was canceled earlier this year. His deal with Stewart was reportedly worth $50 million, but it could rise to $70 million depending on how his brand performs under the domestic diva’s umbrella.
