Baby Update: Denton's Advice for Cross

James Denton is doing what he can to make sure his Desperate Housewives costar Marcia Cross doesn't become a Desperate Mother. Denton tells me that mommy-to-be Cross—she's expecting twins in the spring with businessman husband Tom Mahoney—hasn't exactly sought his guidance.
"She hasn't asked me for a word," Denton told me. "But last night, I did give her some unsolicited advice. I said, 'Hire help! You could afford it.' With twins, I can't even imagine what that's going to be like."
Denton certainly knows about life with toddlers. He and his wife Erin have two kids, three-year-old Sheppard and Malin, who is 18 months. "A nanny makes all the difference in the world," Denton said. "You can relax a little bit. But I know how lucky we are. If this happened a few years ago, we wouldn't be having that help."
Nanny or no nanny, Denton says the 44-year-old Cross will be okay. "She seemed a little apprehensive at first, but she's ambitious and ready to take it on."
