Anne Hathaway's Tales of Dirty Laundry

Anne Hathaway is a trooper. Despite a death in the family this weekend, she still showed up at a gay-rights gala on Saturday night.
The 25-year-old starlet was given the Human Rights Campaign’s Ally for Equality Award during its annual Los Angeles fete at the Hyatt Century Plaza hotel.
Hathaway (above, with CAA agent Bryan Lourd) said supporting the gay community hits close to home. It was “no big deal,” she said, when her older brother, Mike, told the family he was gay.
“We hugged him, said we loved him and that was that,” Hathaway said.
But when Mike came home for Christmas with his first boyfriend—“now husband,” Hathaway cooed—their dad was a little worried...about the laundry!
“My father’s only comment to my mother was, ‘Please try not to mix up our underwear,’” Hathaway said to laughs and applause.
Other boldfaced names at the awards show and dinner were Neil Patrick Harris, Ricki Lake, Judith Light, Wilson Cruz, George Takei, former pro basketball player John Amaechi and Project Runway winner Christian Siriano.
