The folks behind the upcoming movie adaptation of 21 Jump Street are taking a big leap of faith with the much buzzed about remake.

While the flick doesn't hit theaters until March 16...

They're already working on the followup.

"We are writing the sequel now," Jonah Hill, who stars in the movie with Channing Tatum, told me at the Academy Awards. "We got [the greenlight] by the studio to start writing the sequel."

If it's anything like what the first one sounds like, we're game. "It's punk rock," Hill said. "It's total mayhem. It's two young-looking cops going to back to high school and they party with high school kids and go crazy."

Johnny Depp even makes a cameo.

"I'd say it's the funniest movie I've ever been in—that and Superbad," Hill said. "It's like a two-hour or hour-and-a-half party."

21 Jump Street will premiere at South by Southwest next month in Austin.

And yes, we'll admit it right now—we're a bit jealous of Elie Kemper. "I play a teacher who has—imagine this—a huge crush on Channing's character," the Bridesmaids and The Office funny lady said. "That's just so difficult...So yes, there's some romance."

Lucky gal.
