Magnificent! U2 360° Tour Is the Biggest Ever

Call it the Unforgettable road show.

U2's 360° tour easily blew past the record revenue raked in by the Rolling Stones' Bigger Bang jaunt from a few years ago to offically become the highest-grossing trek of all time.

If only Bono and The Edge could do half as well with Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark!

According to concert promoter Live Nation Entertainment, the Irish quartet broke Bigger Bang's tally of $554 million in ticket sales generated from its 2005 to 2007 run following last night's sold-out gig at Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo, Brazil.

At that rate, U2 is expected to top a staggering $700 million when the 360° tour wraps up at the Magnetic Music Hill Musical Festival in Moncton, Canada, on July 30 with Grammy winners Arcade Fire as the opening act.

Chalk up much of those magnificent numbers to the band's unrivaled in-the-round stage setup, which provides fans with as intimate a setting as one can get for a stadium show (and at a reasonable price) while maximizing venue seating capacity and gross receipts.

By trek's end, U2 will also have set another milestone with more than 7 million tickets sold after entertaining audiences on every continent save Antarctica.

The final leg of the 360°'s tour kicks off May 21 in Denver.
