Madonna Confesses Tour Dates

Forget the stage. For Madonna, all the world's about to be a dance floor.

The Queen of Pop has announced the dates for her World Is My Dance Floor tour, kicking off in Los Angeles May 21 after a one-off gig later this month at the Coachella Valley Music Festival.

The summer tour is set to make stops in 13 major North American cities, including New York, Chicago and Las Vegas, before the Material One's itinerary wraps July 22 in Miami and she hops the Atlantic for 10 more dates in Europe. She's also planning to tour Japan, but no dates have been announced.

The disco-themed tour will feature music from her latest multiplatinum album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, no doubt including the hit singles "Hung Up" and "Sorry," but apparently not too many Madonna classics.

"Listen, I love old Madonna songs--I don't know one person who doesn't," Jamie King, Madge's longtime collaborator, told MTV last month. "But we want to focus mainly on this album. I think people love it, and they want to hear it, so expect a lot of the songs from Confessions on a Dance Floor."

Rehearsals for the upcoming tour have already started in Los Angeles, with King directing and choreographing the whole shebang. Madonna's costumes will once again be designed by Jean Paul Gaultier.

The entertainer, who has fully recovered from surgery for a hernia suffered during her February Grammy appearance, first announced plans for a summer tour last month, promising a more intimate and scaled-down affair from her spectacle-laden 2004 re-Invention tour.

To coincide with the summer dates, the 47-year-old mother of two is releasing three special-edition vinyl remixes, called Confessions Remixed, on May 1. The records will include vamped-up versions of "Hung Up," "Sorry," "Get Together," "I Love New York" and "Let It Will Be." Just 3,000 copies of the remixes will be released, wrapped in a special black and silver sleeve.

Tickets for the summer tour go on sale later this month, with more information online at ConfessionsTour.com.
