Mad Man Cramer "Nervous" Over Daily Show Duel
Jim Cramer just hopes to come out alive of tonight's showdown with Jon Stewart.
"He's killing me!" an exasperated Cramer confided today on The Martha Stewart Show. "My kids only know I have a show 'cause Jon Stewart's been skewering me.
"I'm a little nervous. How bad is it gonna be? Is he gonna kill me?"
"You should be nervous," said Martha Stewart. "He's fast as lightning!"
"I'm slow as molasses," replied Cramer.
Tonight's anticipated tête-à-tête on the Comedy Central program will cap a feud that kicked off last week, when Jon Stewart challenged the credibility of the CNBC stock guru. Stewart has dubbed his newfound nemesis "The Ayatollah of Payola" and "Duke Sellington."
Further trying to tamp down expectations of a blood bath, Cramer told Martha Stewart he modeled his CNBC show after The Daily Show and said its host was "his idol."
"The reason why it's been so hard for me, the attacks, is that early on I patterned my show off of his, which is that you can do an entertainment business show. And then suddenly to be attacked by a guy that's your idol makes it difficult," said Cramer.
At the end of his visit with Martha Stewart, Cramer playfully took out his anger on some pie dough.
"Can I do this till I'm on his show?" Cramer asked while pounding away, to which Martha Stewart replied that wasn't a good thing.
"No, you cannot do that. No violence," she said.
Meanwhile, Jon Stewart has accepted a $5 bet from cohort Stephen Colbert, who has predicted Cramer's gonna "mop the floor" with Stewart tonight.
"I got a lot riding on this, Jon," joked Colbert. "Betting on Jim Cramer is the only way to make back the money I lost listening to Jim Cramer!"
