Oscar Week Pops Off! Ballers, Bashes and Hey, Where's My Tux?

Mary J. Blige, Forest Whitaker Jordan Strauss/WireImage.com

It's Academy Awards weekend, and all of Hollywood is gearing up for the big night. Agents and studio execs are working the phones, stylists are grabbing every last accessory, Forest Whitaker is making some tweaks to his acceptance speech and I'm tired just thinking about the whole thing.

Here's what I gotta do before the big show:

  • Get fitted for my tux. Yves Saint Laurent, maybe? Kanye is so jealous.
  • Sweat out some demons and pull a Jen Hudson, shaving some last-minute pounds at Bikram yoga.
  • Email everyone I've ever met to tell them to watch E! all day Sunday. That means you.
  • Finally get some sleep. I've been doing radio and TV press interviews since 3 a.m. for a few days now. It's hard out here for a pimp.

All week long, Hollywood has been like Mardi Gras for famous people. Here's how it went down:

On Fat Tuesday, I hit up the Suns vs. Clips game with Sal and heckled born loser turned baller Tim Thomas (we had the Suns bench in stiches—what up, Raja). Then had dinner up at the Chateau Marmont with Ms. EuroTrip herself, Michelle Trachtenberg.
Drew Barrymore Gregg DeGuire/WireImage.com

Shout-outs to Kevin Connolly (Knicks fan), Josh Hartnett and visionary Alfonso Cuarón (director of Children of Men, most overlooked film of '06), who all stopped by and had drinks with me and Harriet the Spy.

Then it was off to Teddy's for the most star-studded party I've ever seen. So surreal.

Here's who was doing it big to bad '80s music and overpriced Patrón shots: Bruce Willis, Kirsten Dunst and that Strokes dude, guys from Fall Out Boy and the Killers, Cam Diaz and Drew Barrymore (so hot in person), Oscar nom Leo, Ms. Lohan, Zack Bra-zaff, DJ Mom Jeans and a few other famous club rats. All in all, fun was had by all, and Marc Malkin's got a month's worth of good material.
Nas Jordan Strauss/WireImage.com

Wednesday night, me and my boy Mango hit the Nas show on the Fox lot, then a decent dinner at Prime Grill in Beverly Hills, where Nicky and Paris' hottie cousin was celebrating her 21st. Lots of young suits and agents and fly-guy Hollywood douche bags.

Thursday night was a blur, which means it was fun, and now here we are, ready for the biggest night of the year.

So this weekend, if you can, please try and see the nominated movies and performances. Half Nelson, The Last King of Scotland, Babel, An Inconvenient Truth and Pan's Labyrinth—some of the great movies of our time. You'll be so much happier while watching the awards if you're up on the flicks.

Also, check back here for live updates as I cover this thing Sunday. Peace!

P.S. Knicks take on the pesky Milwaukee Bucks tonight. I say the Orange and Blue win in a rare blowout.
