It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Weekend

Big couple of days packed with movie madness, March Madness and Los Angeles madness. Here's how it went down, starting with the flicks I watched all of, most of or part of:
Blades of Glory Paramount Pictures
Friday Morning
  • Blades of GloryKicked it all off with some Will Ferrell. Not his best, I have to say, but he is hilarious at times. It's also cool to see Jon Heder for the first time as Heder, not Napoleon. Overall, I wasn't crazy about it. Thing made $33 million this weekend, so shows you what I know.
  • The Lookout:  A solid film that I hope finds an audience. Joseph Gordon-Levitt delivers an understated lead performance, supported nicely by Matthew Goode and a very sexy Isla Fisher. Jeff Daniels is great as a blind dude as well.

Overall, a smart night at the movies. Or for me, late morning.

The Suicide Kings: Christopher Walken Live Entertainment

Friday Night

  • Suicide KingsIt's great to curl up on a Friday night and get into an old movie you may not remember having seen. This one was a pleasant surprise. It would make a great play. Denis Leary's at the height of his game; Christopher Walken is great as well, a tough role to play—taped to a chair for three-quarters of the movie. Cool to see a young Jeremy Sisto and a young Jay Mohr. For sure check it out if you have never seen it or, like me, can't even remember if you've seen it.
  • A Night at the Roxbury:  I passed out to this classic. And are you ready, 'cause I'm gonna say it: This is my favorite Will Ferrell movie. Straight up. I know it's not his "best" or most popular, but who cares?

Saturday Morning

  • Spent the daylight hours too caught up in the hoops to really watch anything else. Won a lot of money on Ohio State and Florida, though. Holla!

Saturday Night

  • Straight Hollywood all the way as Daily 10's new music expert, Clinton Sparks, deejayed at Privilege on the Sunset Strip. Bottles, models, Sal Masekela doing the Young Joc motorcycle dance, J.D., K'wan and Charlie Roc making it rain. Lot of fun that night.
