Just a day after Fox News personality said she was boycotting the event because she said his routine denigrated women, Louis C.K. has pulled out of hosting the 68th annual Radio and Television Congressional Correspondents' Dinner.
Headache averted.
A rep for the funnyman was unavailable for comment, which was first broken by a CNN reporter in a tweet.
But Louis' agent told the Hollywood Reporter that "he just didn't want to do it anymore," though no specific explanation was given or whether Van Susteren's call to her fellow journos to stay away was a factor.
The On the Record host took to her blog last Thursbay and bashed the comedian, calling him a "pig" for his crude descriptions of women, including using the "C" word to describe former Republican vice presidential candidate and half-term governor Sarah Palin.
"I refuse to show any support for this guy or for the Radio and Television Correspondents Association Dinner Committee who hired him. I think the organization that hired him is just as bad as he is. It is no secret that he denigrates women," she wrote before listing examples of the Emmy winner's transgressions.
Louis (full name Louis Szekely) currently stars in the FX hit series Louie, which he also writes, directs and edits. The 44-year-old comic most recently made headlines for releasing his latest special, Live at the Beacon Theater, directly to fans through his website, netting him over $1 million.
With an act like that, who needs press, right?
