Lopez-Affleck Incorporated?

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are apparently ready for their next costarring gig...as real-life marrieds.

In the latest installment of the interminable are-they-or-aren't-they saga, several media reports Wednesday asserted the two Hollywood players are--drumroll, please--officially engaged.

The betrothal business went into overdrive in early October when she began sporting a honking pink-diamond ring--given to her by Affleck--on her left hand. But the actors' respective camps quickly issued their respective denials.

Weeks later, she was interviewed on MTV and admitted that she and Affleck had talked about swapping "I dos" and even filling up a nursery with kids some day.

Then came the clincher: Appearing Tuesday on MTV's Total Request Live, a giggly Lopez seemed to confirm the speculation. Asked by TRL host Carson Daly if she and Affleck were nuptial-plotting, Lopez replied: "You cornered me. I can't look at you and lie...Everyone will know soon enough."

Instead of the typical denials from Camp Lopez, we just got a "no comment." Then, on Wednesday, everyone from People to NBC to Entertainment Tonight to the New York Post claimed to have a source close to the couple confirming their betrothal.

One source tells E! Online that "soon enough" is next week. Lopez plans on officially dropping the bombshell during her November 13 sitdown with Diane Sawyer on ABC's Primetime. ABC declined comment.

Hollywood's flyest multihyphenate (actress, pop star, dancer, fashion designer, restaurateur, perfume purveyor) is currently making the publicity rounds hyping her upcoming third studio album, This Is Me...Then, due out November 26. (Affleck even puts in a cameo in the video for the first single, "Jenny from the Block," which is in heavy MTV rotation and climbing the pop charts.) She's also plugging her next film, the romantic comedy Maid in Manhattan, which comes out December 13.

If Lopez, 32, and Affleck, 30, do wind up walking the aisle, blame Halle Berry.

It was Berry who was originally supposed to star with Affleck in the hit-man comedy Gigli. But Berry had to drop out to shoot the X-Men sequel, and J.Lo stepped in. Next thing we know, Lopez handed then-hubby Cris Judd his walking papers and immediately embarked on a worldwide canoodling tour with Affleck, as painstakingly chronicled in the tabloids over the past few months.

Whirlwind romance is something of a J.Lo trademark. She dated, marrried and abandoned choreographer Judd in a span of about 17 months. Her first marriage, to Ojani Noa (a waiter who now manages Madre's, her Pasadena, California, restaurant), was equally short, ending in divorce in 1998 after just one year.

Affleck represents her third-time's-a-charm prospect.

Affleck and Lopez are presently make-believing they're husband and wife in Jersey Girl, an in-production comedy from Kevin Smith.

Before the twosome can seal the deal in real life, however, they have one minor detail to clear up: Her marriage to Judd. Because California law stipulates six months must pass between the filing of paperwork and the official dissolution of marriage, the Judd-Lopez divorce won't be finalized until January 26, 2003. With that in mind, People reports the two are eyeing a Valentine's Day ceremony.

Which, by our calculations, sounds about right for the pub-happy couple. After all, Affleck's comic-book movie Daredevil just happens to come out February 14, and there's nothing like a little wedding blowout to stoke the PR fires.

For more J.Lo-Affleck scoop from Lopez herself, tune in for the entertainer's one-on-one with Jules Asner on E!'s Revealed, December 11 at 10 p.m.
