Lindsay's Mom Blows Off Court Date
Lindsay Lohan's mom was supposed to be discussing child visitation in court last Friday. Instead, she did some child visitation of her own.
Dina Lohan jetted to California to visit her oldest child at the Promises treatment center in Malibu, skipping out on a court date and angering the judge presiding over the case.
The mom-ager was due in Nassau Family Court for a hearing in her custody dispute with her ex-husband, Michael Lohan, but did not show up as she was too busy preparing to depart for California, her lawyers said.
Judge Stacy Bennett told Dina's lawyer, Warren Quaid, that his client was required to attend all future court dates in the matter.
"Our client will be here," Quaid replied.
Michael Lohan, who was released from prison in March after serving more than two years on DUI-related charges, is fighting for the right to visit his two youngest children, 13-year-old Aliana and 10-year-old Dakota.
He has not seen the kids for over two years due to restraining orders put in place by Dina.
The visitation battle does not affect Lindsay, 20, or her brother, Michael, 19, because they are no longer minors.
The judge said the younger children would be evaluated by court-appointed experts to determine their best interests. The next court date was set for June 25.
"Right now, it's a little frustrating because it's been put off again," Michael told the New York Post. "I only want the best for my kids."
After traveling to the opposite coast, Dina was seen arriving at Promises Friday afternoon, where she remained for several hours.
Lindsay checked into the facility on May 28, following a car crash that led to her arrest for driving under the influence. Police responding to the scene of the accident said they found a "usable amount" of cocaine in the actress' wrecked Mercedes SL-65 convertible.
Her father told E! Online that she was being treated for addictions to a number of substances, including booze and OxyContin.
Since checking into Promises, the actress has left the grounds on several occasions to work out at a local gym and attend church, according to x17online.com, which has been zealously documenting the excursions.
Once she completes her stint in rehab, she already has several projects lined up.
The producers of her upcoming dark comedy, Poor Things, said they had rearranged the film's shooting schedule to accommodate her treatment and allow her to stay on board.
Meanwhile, a family friend said the actress still has every intention of attending her 21st birthday party at Las Vegas nightclub Pure on July 2.
"Lindsay said she's doing the party in Vegas, no matter what," attorney Michael Heller told VH1. "Just because you're sober doesn't mean you can't go out and have fun."
Just ask Britney Spears.
