Lindsay's Dad Does It Again
At this rate, Lindsay Lohan's dad will soon out-ink his daughter in the tabloid headlines.
Michael Lohan, the teen queen's troubled father, was arrested for criminal contempt Monday on New York's Long Island. The elder Lohan allegedly violated an order of protection taken out by the Mean Girls star's mom, Dina. It's the second time in as many weeks that he has been charged with the same crime.
Although Michael Lohan was arrested Monday, he managed to stave off jail time. After cops collared him, he complained of chest pains and was subsequently taken to Winthrop-University Hospital for evaluation.
He was charged with criminal contempt and driving under the influence and is scheduled to be arraigned upon his release from the hospital, most likely later Tuesday or early Wednesday.
This is the second instance in three months Daddy Lohan has exhibited symptoms of heart trouble while in custody. In August, the 44-year-old bolted from a Long Island court, where he was the defendant in an assault case, and was treated for high blood pressure at a nearby hospital.
Only hours earlier, Dina Lohan's security guards called the cops after Michael showed up unannounced at the family home in the Long Island town of Merrick. The police subsequently determined he was intoxicated and took him into custody.
The arrest came six days after Michael Lohan was busted and accused of ignoring his wife's restraining order.
According to the New York Daily News, Lohan was arrested Nov. 23 for a bizarre incident in which Michael Lohan allegedly chased daughter Lindsay when she showed up at her younger brother's soccer game in the Long Island town of Merrick.
Dina Lohan was also at the game, which, by some accounts, quickly devolved into a messy family affair. Dina Lohan had previously secured a restraining order against Michael in October--which meant Dad shouldn't have even been at the game if he knew Mom would be there.
At the time, he was charged and released without bail.
Per the Daily News, Dina's brother Paul Sullivan says that the elder Lohan has threatened to murder his entire family, which now has 24-hour security protection.
Last summer, Michael was arrested in the family home for allegedly beating another brother-in-law, Matthew Sullivan, with a shoe during a brawl at a communion party.
Then there's his arrest for skipping out on a $3,800 bill at a posh local hotel last April. He was released on a $250 bond and charged with a misdemeanor for theft of services for that incident.
And just two months ago, Lohan pleaded guilty to charges he assaulted a New York City sanitation worker.
Michael Lohan maintains that he still has a loving relationship with his star daughter despite problems with his estranged wife, his brother-in-law and Lindsay's friends and handlers. Lindsay reportedly banned her father from visiting her when she was hospitalized with a mystery malady earlier this month.
"Her friends are parasites and I said so, so they scorn me," Lohan told the New York Post in October. "They are trying to put a wedge between me and my daughter."
