Lindsay Officially Busted
And to think, we'd almost forgotten what prompted Lindsay Lohan to check in to rehab in the first place.
The actress made a quick stop at the Beverly Hills Police Department Thursday afternoon to be officially booked on charges of driving under the influence and hit-and-run, stemming from her allegedly booze-fueled single-car smashup that occurred about a month and a half ago.
Lohan arrived at the station at roughly 4:15 p.m., was detained for about an hour and then released on her own recognizance after posting $30,000 bail. She's due back in court Aug. 24.
Beverly Hills police presented their case to prosecutors Friday morning, but a decision on whether Lohan would be formally charged was not expected until at least early next week, according to a spokesperson for the district attorney's office.
In the wee hours of May 26, the now detoxed starlet was driving on Sunset Boulevard after a night of clubbing, when she apparently lost control of her Mercedes SL-65 convertible, jumped a curb and rammed into some trees.
The actress was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries and was never formally booked after police determined that alcohol had contributed to the accident.
Two days later, Lohan checked into the Promises treatment facility in Malibu, where she spent 45 days (15 of them in an extended-care program), before opting for checkout on Fri., July 13. Her father, Michael, told E! Online in May that his daughter was being treated for addictions to alcohol and various drugs, including the painkiller OxyContin.
It's not known yet whether the DUI-related charge Lohan is facing includes the "contraband," preliminarily identified as cocaine, that Beverly Hills police announced they had found in the accident's aftermath. Late last month, Lohan's attorney, Blair Berk, lambasted authorities after a report claiming the Georgia Rule star had cocaine in her system and a blood-alcohol level nearly double the legal limit was leaked to the press.
