If anyone had a long day, it was Lindsay Lohan.

The actress was behind the wheel this morning when the Porsche she was driving collided with a semi-trailer truck, sending her to the hospital and the car to the tow yard.

After getting a look at the smashed-up sports car, it's hard to believe that Lohan was well enough to walk out of the hospital on her own two feet, let alone ready to return to her role as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime movie Liz & Dick just a few hours later.

Yet that's just what she did!

"She was brought to Santa Monica UCLA hospital as a precaution," Lohan's rep, Steve Honig, assured E! News after the crash. "She is fine and was released less than two hours later and is already headed back to the set to resume work. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident."

The TV movie, costarring Grant Bowler as the Richard Burton to Lohan's Liz Taylor, has been shooting in Malibu and Lohan was on her way to the set with assistant Gavin Doyle in the passenger seat when the accident occurred.

Santa Monica Police responded to a 911 call made at 11:42 a.m., authorities told us today. At the scene, they first ascertained that neither driver had been drinking and then Lohan, who complained of pain at the scene, and Doyle, who had visible minor injuries, were shipped off to the hospital in an ambulance.

The truck driver was uninjured.

Both vehicles were northbound on Pacific Coast Highway when the Porsche struck the rear end of the truck; police say the accident is under investigation.

Liz & Dick executive producer Larry Thompson confirms to E!, meanwhile, that Lohan is on the set and in wardrobe.

While Lohan was still being treated, he said that they were shooting around her for the time being and were waiting to hear more on her condition.

The scheduled day scenes involving Lohan were indeed scrapped, Thompson tells us, but his star is ready to work and they are hoping to get some night shooting in.
