LFO Singer Rich Cronin Dies of Cancer at 36

Rich Cronin liked it when the girls stopped by for the summer.

The singer-songwriter, who fronted '90s pop trio LFO, died Wednesday after battling leukemia. He was 36.

Cronin penned the group's biggest hit, "Summer Girls," which namechecked everything from Abercrombie & Fitch to Home Alone to Alex P. Keaton and spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Single Sales chart in 1999.

Lance Bass tweeted this evening: "Sad sad day that Rich Cronin died- was a amazing guy. : ("

Cronin was first diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia in 2005. He started the Rich Cronin Hope Foundation to raise awareness about the disease and educate the public about donating blood and bone marrow.
