It's clear that Kris Humphries wants a piece of home beside him through this "difficult" time.

The New Jersey Nets basketball player—who at one point wouldn't divorce Kim Kardashian—is ready to take the necessary steps in legally ending his 72-day marriage, but not without a special request.

Humphries has just petitioned the court to allow his Minnesota attorney, Lee A. Hutton III, to represent him in his divorce, in addition to the Los Angeles counsel he's already retained, Laurence R. Goldman with Freid and Goldsman.

The Kim and Kourtney Take New York star lawyered up with Hutton for his split back in November, just a couple weeks after the divorce went public. And surprisingly, he's not your usual family law specialist.

The Minnesota-based attorney actually represents a number of pro athletes and has counseled Humphries in other matters over the year.

Well, it's best to go with someone you trust.
