Kirsten Storms Pleads Out
Perhaps now there are clearer skies ahead for Kirsten Storms.
The General Hospital actress pleaded no contest to a DUI-related charge Wednesday stemming from her September arrest on a Los Angeles freeway, L.A. City Attorney's Office spokesman Frank Mateljan confirmed to E! Online.
Storms was sentenced to three years' probation and fined $1,643 after entering her plea on a misdemeanor count of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08 percent. She also must complete a 90-day alcohol program and attend 12 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
Another count of driving under the influence was dropped as part of the deal.
GH's Maxie Jones was driving on the 101 Freeway near Studio City in the wee hours of Sept. 7 when California Highway Patrol officers saw a lit cigarette fly out of the window of her blue Mercedes-Benz CLK500. After pulling Storms over, officers "noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle," according to the arrest report.
Storms was taken into custody after failing several field sobriety tests and, after a Breathalyzer registered her blood-alcohol level at 0.13, was held for several hours before posting $5,000 bail.
The 23-year-old Orlando native also appeared on the first season of the prime-time SoapNet spinoff General Hospital: Night Shift, and voices cheerleader Bonnie Rockwaller on the Disney Channel cartoon Kim Possible.
Storms won the 2001 Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Child Actor for her role as Belle Black, whose mom turned out to be the Salem Stalker, on Days of Our Lives.
