Kimberly Stewart: Dad's Got a Big Mouth
Ugh, dads can be so embarrassing sometimes.
Even rock princess Kimberly Stewart, daughter of Rod Stewart and first wife Alana, had to put her famous father in his place recently.
The 27-year-old model/designer/professional partier has been busy denying that she is suffering from a liver disease, a report that surfaced after her dad said in an interview with Rolling Stone that his daughter's drinking had gotten the better of her.
"I love my dad, but sometimes he has a big mouth and not just when he's singing," Stewart told People on Friday.
"I don't have a liver disease. I was exhausted and feeling sick from burning the candle at both ends, and my doctor told me to cut back on drinking and smoking, which I have, and I feel so much better."
Therefore, it's pretty unclear what led Rod Stewart to say in the music mag's Nov. 30 issue, "She just discovered that she had a very serious liver illness from drinking too much."
Perhaps it was all the father-daughter banter that led to the confusion.
"So she hasn't had a drink or a cigarette in three months, and she feels great," the British hitmaker said. "She said to me, 'Dad, I'm half-Scottish. I thought I was allowed to drink a lot.' I said, 'No, darling, it doesn't work like that.' "
Obviously figuring that being right or stubborn isn't worth risking the ties that bind, Rod Stewart issued a statement correcting the article, saying his words had been taken out of context.
"Kimberly had an inflamed liver and she's perfectly fine now," the "Forever Young" singer said.
It's back to the old ballgame then. Stewart was spotted Friday cuddling up with former flame Jack Osbourne—who knows a thing or two about the hazards of partying too much—at the reality TV star's 21st birthday party at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas.
The leggy blonde, who has appeared on MTV's Cribs and Celebrities Uncensored, also presides over her own clothing line, Pinky Starfish.
Rod Stewart, meanwhile, is in the midst of a career renaissance, thanks to his platinum-selling Great American Songbook series and his latest offering, Still the Same…Great Rock Classics of Our Time, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 last month.
