When in Rome, right?

Or, in this case, Dubai, where Kim Kardashian and mom Kris Jenner touched down Tuesday.

Going by Kim's Twitter account, she's been having an amazing time and she's loving their accommodations at the ritzy Atlantis, the Palm Hotel.

But while out shopping in the gold district tonight, the mother-daughter duo decided to try to blend in as much as possible. As much as two famous Americans with bodyguards and eyelashes too long for their veils can blend in, that is.

At one store, Kim and Kris were fitted for traditional burqas, robes that cover from head to toe, and even tried on niqabs, which shield the entire face, minus a thin slit to see through.

But even wrapped up in solid black, Kim attracted plenty of attention. According to an eyewitness, their security team had to hold hands to form a ring around the E! stars as they made their way through the marketplace as people—who at least sounded like fans, anyway—cheered and called out to them.

Kim also enjoyed some more contemporary Dubai fashion as well, busting out new colorful caftans and tunics from Marena y Sol and getting dolled up for dinner and seeing the sights.

"Seriously the woman in Dubai are sooo gorgeous!!! I'm sure @RobKardashian is so jealous he didn't come w me! WOW these woman are beautiful!" she wrote.

"I was telling my sisters, we've got to start up a hotel in Dubai and design all the different rooms and floors," Kim told reporters during her stay. "I like to pay attention to what my fan base is really asking for, whether it's hair and makeup, clothing brands...everything I think will be successful here and I look forward to getting to know the people here."

For now, anyway, Kim is in town to mark the local launch of her signature fragrance at Sephora in the Dubai Mall, as well as to open the first Millions of Milkshakes location outside of the U.S.

"Can't wait for you all to try my shake xoxo," she tweeted tonight.
