Kevin Costner's Field of Diapers
Last year Kevin Costner played the guardian. Turns out it was a dress rehearsal.
The two-time Oscar winner and his wife, Christine Baumgartner, welcomed their first child together this weekend, a son.
Cayden Wyatt Costner checked in at 10:30 p.m. Sunday in Los Angeles, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces, publicist Paul Bloch announced Monday.
"Both mother and son are doing well," the rep said. The only other tidbit divulged by Bloch: The newborn has dark hair.
Costner, 54, and Baumgartner, a 33-year-old designer, swapped vows at his Aspen ranch in September 2004 in front of a crowd that included Oprah Winfrey, Tim Allen, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas and Jack Nicholson. It was the first trip down the aisle for Baumgartner, the second for Costner.
Cayden is now the youngest member of casa Costner. The star has four other children: Annie, Lily and Joe, with ex-wife Cindy; and Liam, with Aspen socialite Bridget Rooney, with whom the actor had a brief fling.
Costner last appeared onscreen opposite Ashton Kutcher in 2006's Coast Guard drama The Guardian. His credits also include Dances with Wolves (which accounts for bookend Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director), Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, The Untouchables, The Bodyguard, Waterworld, JFK and Tin Cup.
Next up is the title role in the Jekyll-and-Hyde psychological thriller Mr. Brooks, costarring Demi Moore and William Hurt. The film is due out June 1.
