Katy Perry's Part of Me Movie: From Pop Star to Movie Star?

Pop star insists that her success as a singer doesn't necessarily mean she can be an accomplished actress

To say that Katy Perry is a hugely successful singer is, obviously, an understatement.

But with the upcoming release of Katy Perry: Part of Me, which chronicles her chart-topping rise to fame, does the songstress now have her sights set on movie stardom as well?

"That's a lot responsibility," Perry told E! News prior to performing on Wednesday for New York City's Fleet Week.

"I have friends that are actors, and I see how incredibly hard they work," she added. "And I work incredibly hard, but I'm kind of the captain of my own ship...and as much as I love to collaborate with my team, when you do a film, you have an even bigger community of collaborators. And I'm just very careful of everything I do, because I know who I am, and I don't want anybody to think that they can make me into something else."

Perry went on to stress that just because she's good at her day job, it doesn't mean she can automatically make the leap to movies.

"I think that it can sometimes come back to shoot you in the foot," she said. "So, we'll see."

Guess time will tell.

Meanwhile, fans can check out Katy Perry: Part of Me when it hits theaters Fourth of July weekend.
