Katy Perry is once again single and ready to mingle after E! News confirms that Russell Brand's estranged wife called it quits with her rebound rocker beau, Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd.
The pair weren't together long, only going public with their coupling at last month's Coachella Music Festival, but over the weekend, Katy was already on the arm of a "smokin'" hot other...
But not like that!
The newly single "Part of Me" singer turned up at the Billboard Music Awards last night—where she debuted her new song, "Wide Awake," ostensibly about her ex-husband—with no less a red carpet companion than her own grandma, Ann Hudson.
"My date to tonight's Billboard Music Awards is hotter than the las vegas weather," the 27-year-old tweeted before the ceremony. "SMOKIN'!"
So cute!
As for her new unattached status, don't expect Perry to be pining away.
"It wasn't serious," a source told E! News. "She likes him a lot, but it was just a distraction. It was very short-lived, she's still dealing with getting over her marriage and it's going to take her a while to truly be able to trust anyone again."
In other words, he's not exactly the one who got away.
"She is remaining friends with Rob, but they were never serious to begin with, and she had doubts about it from the start. There are no hard feelings, they are both just very busy and had no expectations. Rob is a good guy, but she just wants to focus on her work."
And keep the pieces of herself to herself.
