Kate Kisses Britain Goodbye
Well, that didn't take long.
Just two days after voluntarily meeting with police to rehash her cocaine scandal, Kate Moss has left her homeland for the U.S.
Sporting a miniskirt, black top and beige coat, Moss remained mum as she was buzzed by reporters and paparazzi while making her way through London's Heathrow Airport Thursday. She boarded a plane bound for Miami, where she reportedly had a fashion shoot scheduled.
On Tuesday, the 32-year-old catwalker met with police for approximately 80 minutes. She was there to attempt to explain hidden-camera footage taken by London's Daily Mirror that appeared to show her snorting cocaine with ex-beau Pete Doherty, singer for the Brit band Babyshambles. Still images from the tape were eventually published in the tabloid.
Aside from the police probe, the resulting scandal led several luxury purveyors to cancel multimillion-dollar contracts with Moss. After issuing a semi-apology that stopped short of admitting drug use, Moss fled Britain in October and wound up in Arizona, where she spent a month in a rehab facility.
The supermodel has not been charged with any crime or issued a citation. However, since Tuesday's inquiry was conducted "under caution," any statements Moss made during the interview could potentially be used against her in future legal proceedings.
Police gave no indication when they would wrap up their investigation. Should detectives determine Moss broke the law, they'll recommend prosecutors formally charge her.
In the months since the photos were first published, Moss and her handlers have done a good job doing damage control, making sure the scandal hasn't derailed her professional life.
Aside from signing on to be the new face of the Coco Mademoiselle fragrance line and landing a starring role in a U.K.-based Virgin Mobile advertising campaign, it was announced just after her police Q&A that Moss will grace the March cover of British Vogue. She has also agreed to write a memoir for Virgin books.
