Kanye's Paparazzi-Popping Case Dismissed

Three misdemeanors are cleared from West's record after he successfully completes 50 hours' community service

It's looking pretty unlikely that Kanye West is going to show his face at the Grammys this weekend. But that doesn't mean he won't have reason to celebrate (or, like he did after the last awards show he attended, hibernate).

The vandalism, battery and grand theft charges that the R&B star faced as a result of an airport altercation with paparazzi back in 2008 were formally dismissed today after a judge found that West had sufficiently made good on his deal with the court.

Well, it was about time some good news came his way.

While West himself was too busy silencing the haters from Paris Fashion Week and otherwise getting his caps lock on to attend this morning's hearing, according to TMZ, his attorney Blair Berk was on hand to inform the judge that both West and his manager Don Crowley had completed their required 50 hours of community service with the American Red Cross.

In addition to the enforced do-gooding, both men also agreed to take an anger management class in order to keep their rap sheets free of the trio of misdemeanors.

The 32-year-old racked up the charges on Sept. 11, 2008, when en route to his terminal at LAX he was confronted by two paparazzi. West clearly didn't take too kindly to the hounding, and a scuffle broke out in which the singer wrestled away one of the men's cameras, smashing it to the ground and causing roughly $10,000 in damages.

Kanye, meanwhile, has maintained an uncharacteristic silence on his legal redemption. While he's been blogging prolifically all week, he's opted not to make his feelings known on this particular topic.
